This idea was inspired by the registration process for the High Ed Web conference. They have this fun/quirky email template explaining why your boss should pay to send you to the conference at https://events.highedweb.org/heweb23/letter-to-the-boss. While I appreciate how the new 2 step domain verification/dns registration process prevents domain hijacking (something we experienced at CU), the process can be confusing. Because we work with different campus IT groups who are processing hundreds of DNS change requests a month and aren’t always familiar with Pantheon’s requirements, we’ve had launches delayed by confusion.
I personally try to send the same email explaining the steps as clearly as possible, but I’m not always the person making the DNS change request. Rather than just giving users the option to copy the recommended IP values, why not give users a templated email with the values in it that explains the process?
